In case I never finish these, I'm sharing them anyway! Enjoy xox
A girl always comes prepared for a fight Having said that I now find that my pen does not write // First cup of coffee of the day Listening to Mitski with Mum Hoping it melts all the pain away // I'm paralysed by how much I want you What time is it? It's time to move on... // I spend my nights crying because I can't call you mine When most of the time you aren't remotely kind I ignore all your flaws because I am flawed And to me you are flawless // There's cherry cider in my hair I wonder if you'd care // I think everyone is special because I am special enough to have the power to make them into something they are not I care too much I see the goodness in everyone when there is none // I am just a river of red wine and nicotine and everyone I have ever loved and cherry-flavoured everything
You could probably make them work as a single completed poem. I did like these lines:
"I'm paralyzed by how much I want you
What time is it?
It's time to move on..."
ah... wow. You stunned us briefly with just the first snippet.
the second made us smile in our own bittersweet sentimentality.
third... well... this felt cold and hot, urgent and stuck, like frozen lightning.
fourth... shadow cathedral... murmured hymns and half-felt, half-dream vows.
fifth... an oddly gravitational obsession, what moons has it pulled rogue from your tide?
sixth... what a twist. Brilliant and dark at once.
seventh... just? JUST? There is nothing just about that. Whether by existence justified or crimes justly punished, or on the run with a warrant on your borders.
